December 2018. After not working on this site for a long time I’m back at it again. The site is a mess but there is still quite a bit of content, so the plan is to leave it up while gradually working on the structure of the whole site. As you can see I don’t really know what I’m doing, and haven’t got a workable plan for the organization of the site. For now I’m just going to experiment and hope that it all magically works out!! Ha ha!
My long term goal is to have this site be the main repository for the content and to have hyperlinks to a separate online genealogy database. Possibly I really am dreaming, but it is what I’d like.
My first task is to change the menu system into a something more logical and practical.
==========================
This website started out to be a compilation of information that I have collected over several years on the Lucas Family of Hitchin in Hertfordshire. It now has additional information on other related families as well.
I first began to be interested in family history after reading the Lucas Book, a handsome leather bound typescript volume that was in the possession of my father, Ron Lucas. The book is a genealogy of the Lucas family of Hitchin, beginning in 1550 or so, giving almost complete information for all the descendants down to about 1910. It is very impressive, yet whoever did it remains anonymous, and over the years I have not found anyone else who has a copy of it.
