James and Mary Ann Lucas had eight children–seven daughters followed at last by a son. Of all the children only Rosa had children. The children are:
- Eliza Mary Lucas (1810-1888)
- Maria Lucas (1812-1892)
- Mary Ann Lucas (1814-1886)
- Caroline Lucas (1816-?)
- Rosa Lucas (1818-1873)
- Jane Lucas (1819-?)
- Sarah Lucas (1821-1900)
- James John Seymour Spencer Lucas (1823-1873)
Eliza Mary Lucas Rushforth(1810-1888)
Eliza Mary was born in 1810 in Enfield, Middlesex, but not christened until two years later in 1812 in St. Botolph Bishopsgate, London. In 1851 she is living at Broadwater, Sussex, with her youngest sister Sarah. In 1861 she is living at 2 Southend Villas, Paddington, aged 50 and unmarried, living alone with one servant, a cook. In 1871 she is living at Ealing, and aged 60. Still living alone and up to three servants now. Name of the dwelling is James Lodge. I have a feeling she and her sister spent considerable time with their uncle John Lucas, of Heene. He died in 1852, the year after Eliza Mary was at Broadwater, Sussex.
In 1881 Eliza Mary is married to Joseph Rushforth and indicates her age as 68. He is aged 60, so I guess she was rounding her age down a bit to narrow the gap. Amazing what marriage does! George Ferris Whidborne is a guest. They are living at Worthing, Sussex, but not at Heene. The address is No.5, Chapel Road. They were married in 1876 and she died in 1888. She would have been 66 when she married. Definitely no children from that marriage!
