October 2011.   After a long time without working on this site I’m back at it again.   I’ve updated and changed the WordPress theme and have been working on adding content, particularly to the Frederic W. Lucas pages and the James Lucas pages.

The new WordPress theme is great, or rather it will be great once I get the hang of it.  Right now my biggest problem is figuring out Menus, Widgets, and Headers, so there will probably be quite a few navigation problems for users until I figure it all out.   Thanks for your patience!   I’m having fun learning all this new WordPress things, and also have lately had some very rewarding correspondence about those two families.

This website started out to be a compilation of information that I have collected over several years on the Lucas Family of Hitchin in Hertfordshire .  It now has additional information on other of my related families as well.

I first began to be interested in family history after reading the Lucas Book, a handsome leather bound typescript volume that is in the possession of my father, Ron Lucas. The book is a genealogy of the Lucas family of Hitchin beginning in 1550 or so, giving almost complete information for all the descendants down to about 1910. It is very impressive, yet whoever did it remains anonymous, and over the years I have not found anyone else who has a copy.
